Malawi is expected to have well trained individuals who will help the country in adapting to climate change thanks to the newly launched Malawi’s Strategy on Climate Change Learning.
The new policy has been launched virtually by the Minister of Forestry and Natural Resources due to COVID 19.
Principal Secretary for the Ministry Dr Yanira Ntupanyama said the strategy is aimed at taking a learning approach towards adapting to climate change and also mitigating the negative outcomes.
Dr. Yanira Mtupanyama said this is a continuation of the previous plan which will look to provide capacity building for human and institutions to help combat climate change.
“This project will guide the activities to run from 2021 to 2025 the project will also enhance a network of youth who will be able to mitigate the negative effects of climate change,” said Dr Ntupanyama.
One of the key objectives for the strategy is to strengthen human resources and skills development for the advancement of climate sensitive development.
