Mzimba North Legislator Yeremia Chihana was sent out of Parliament on Thursday for despising a series of rulings by the Speaker and failing to abide by standing orders.
The incident occurred during questioning time to the Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima who was in Parliament in his capacity as Minister of Economic Planning and Development and Public Reforms.
Chihana, who rose to ask a supplementary on his own question on whether the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development has developed policies for implementation of Malawi Vision 2063, said the office of Vice President has no constitutional mandate to oversee public sector reforms as it is a delegated office.
He said the Vice President is being overshadowed by the Secretary to the Office President and Cabinet Zanga-zanga Chikhosi, who according to him, is supposed to take instructions from the Vice President and not the current situation.
Chihana’s sentiments ignited drama in the House and this prompted the First Deputy Speaker Madalitso Kazombo to evoke standing orders to kick the Legislator out of the House.
