Dream Global Initiative has asked government to put in place measures that will help in empowering women economically after serving their sentences in prisons.
This has been said as Malawi joined the world is commemorating the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021.
Speaking to YFM, founder for Dream Global Initiative Charity Nkosi, said a lot of women are found in prisons as a result of poverty, hence the need for a solution to address the root cause of their predicament.
“To help these women first we need to address the root cause of their predicament and in most cases you will discover that it is poverty.
“If we were to put in place something like work skills to train them when they are still in prisons that will help them after finishing serving their sentences to become an independent individual in our society,” Nkosi said.
She further said government has to engage with different people who have passion and are willing to help prisoners.
Dream global initiative aims at supporting women and children in prisons.
