The World Travel and Tourism Council has awarded the country a safe travel stamp for successfully implementing the council’s tourists and travel protocols.
The stamp is aimed at supporting travelers to recognize destinations and companies that have implemented protocols aligned with the safe travel protocols.
The safe travels stamp is also an endorsement of the guidelines that have been designed to rebuild confidence among consumers.
Reacting to the development, the Director of Tourism in the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife, Alice Magombo, through a statement, said the stamp will help to boost and instill confidence in tourists and travelers to the country.
Read part of the statement; “Despite being hit hard by the covid-19 pandemic, this will help to revamp the sector and instill confidence in the tourists and travelers who choose to visit Malawi.”
She said this is also a clear induction that government is committed to ensuring safety and hygiene of travelers and tourists in the country
Magombo further added that the ministry intends to enforce the global safe travel standards and guidelines throughout the sector and that private operators in the country will be awarded the stamp when they meet the standards.
