Minibus Owners Association of Malawi (MOAM) has adjusted its bus fares upwards with 10% effective Wednesday.
MOAM Secretary General, Coxley Kamange said the decision has been arrived following some consultations with its members.
“We have indeed increased bus fares because fuel prices have been hiked,” said Kamange
In a related development, Kamange has advised passengers to report to the association or police should they witness some minibus operators defying the 60 percent carrying capacity rule.
Meanwhile, government says the fuel price hike is as a result of a increase on global market.
