National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera has stated that collective efforts are required to end mob justice in the country.
Kadadzera said in the past three years mob justice cases have increased at an alarming rate and it is important that all stakeholders join hands to fight the vice.
Statistics from the national police show that in January 2021 alone at least 12 cases of mob justice were recorded across the country.
“These cases have been increasing at a worrisome rate, in 2018 we registered 45 cases, 2019 we registered 28 cases where as in 2020 a total of 150 cases were registered.
“In the meantime police has intensified awareness campaigns to teach people on the dangers of the malpractice,” he said.
Kadadzera also urged the media to continue assisting with awareness on this malpractice so as to put an end to mob justice.
He also warned that all those involved in mob justice will face the law.
