A social commentator has appealed to international organization to target people’s mindset change when implementing social behavior change programmes in the country.
Lucky Mbewe made the call following a development that the UN Joint SDG Fund will run a K6 billion program to help some small scale businesses to accomplish Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as reducing poverty.
Mbewe said it is important that the people who are being targeted get ample training to understand the goal of the programs so that in the long run the goals are realized.
Mbewe said: “Only if we have done a good job in empowering the people giving them the necessary skills in preparedness for the funds that is when we can see a positive impact from the same.”
He went on to say that if this is not done people will continue to misuse the funds and opportunities since their minds will still be thinking negatively.
“If this is not done, we will go back to the same understanding that funds which have been made available are for consumption therefore it is important to have mindset change sessions on the same.”
The UN Global Joint SDG Fund is expected to pump in funds amounting to K6 billion that will see several SMEs who have the potential to help achieve Sustainable Development Goals SDGs benefit from the funds.
