The Malawi National football team on Monday left for Ethiopia for Wednesday’s friendly match as part of preparations ahead of 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying matches.
The Flames, who are in Group B with 4 points, are preparing to face South Sudan on March 24 before hosting Uganda on March 29 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Speaking to media, Head Coach for the team Meck Mwase said he is optimistic that his 28 man squad will win these qualifying matches against the two countries.
“My boys and I are aware of the need for us to win these two matches, if we are to qualify,” he said.
Meanwhile, four flames players that tested positive for covid-19 have recovered and have since been incorporated in the squad.
The full squad includes; Bright Munthali, William Thole and Ernest Khobwe as goal keepers,
Stanly Sanudi, Peter Cholopi, Precious Sambani, Nickson Nyasulu, Paul Ndlovu, Limbikani Mzamva, Charles Petro and Dennis Chembezi are the defenders.
In midfield, Mwase has deemed fit the following; Chiwemwe Idana, Chimango Kayira, Chikoti Chirwa, Rafick Namwera, Micium Mhone, Patrick Banda, Duncan Nyoni, Gerald Phiri, Peter Banda, Francisco Madinga and John Banda.
Strikers include Schumacher Kuwali, Vincent Nyangulu, Gabadinho Mhango, Richard Mbulu, Khuda Muyaba and Robin Ngalande.
