The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is expected to receive ballot papers from Dubai on 26 March 2021 in readiness for the 30 March By elections.
Director of media and public relations at MEC made the remarks when asked if MEC was ready with voting materials for the by election as the days are drawing close.
Mwafulirwa said the commission now has a list of all candidates who will contest in the by election the process of printing ballot papers will commence.
“Once the ballot papers arrive we will take them to councils for further distribution to the polling stations,” he said.
Mwafulirwa added that the commission will soon be calling people who will preside over these elections for interviews.
“We advertised for the position of presiding officer and we will hold interviews shortly in a process that has been decentralized at council level so this will make our work easier,” he said.
