Blantyre Teachers Training College (BTTC) students are at risk of waterborne diseases following a water shortage that has hit the college campus.
A visit by YFM at the campus on Tuesday afternoon, discovered that more than 800 students are struggling to source water from the only borehole on campus.
BTTC Students Union President, Prince Ntukula, and a female student, Chifundo Khwala, said the problem has been worse since three days ago.
They said many students are having difficulties to take their bath and use flash toilets.
Ntukula said they have petitioned management on the matter.
Blantyre Teachers Training College deputy principal, a Mrs Jumbe, refused to grant any interview and directed YFM to the Ministry of Education spokesperson.
However, one of the lectures attributed the problem to a faulty electricity transformer which has affected the institution’s water pump.
He said management was locked in a meeting on Tuesday morning to try to solve the problem.
