The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says the date for the arrival of ballot papers for the by elections has changed to March 21, 2021.

Initially MEC had communicated that the ballot papers would arrive in the country on March 26, 2021 but due to flight schedules the dates have changed.

“The only flight that has got space to carry ballot papers is the one coming on the 21 of March hence the change.

Director of Media and Public Relations at MEC, Sangwani Mwafulirwa, has assured Malawians that all ballot papers will be safely kept.

“We are identifying a secure place within Lilongwe where the ballot papers will be kept until the 26th when they will be dispatched to councils,” he said.
