The Ministry of Health (MoH) says the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine is progressing well since the exercise was opened to the general public on March 15, 2021.
Dr Mike Chisema, Deputy Director for preventive health services responsible for immunization, told YONECO FM online that so far over 15,000 people have been vaccinated.
Chisema expressed optimism on the rise in number of people who are going to patronize centers where the vaccine is being administered.
“Our expectation is that numbers will go up because there were a lot of misinformation concerning the vaccine so when people see that the vaccine is safe they will get it,” he said.
“We have close to 350,000 doses to roll out to the rest of the country whilst we wait for more doses that are coming.”
Dr Chisema also stated that community engagement, social mobilization and demand creation for the vaccine will continue.
