Malawi Police Service (MPS) in collaboration with Association of Persons with Albinism (Apam) have launched a manhunt following an abduction of a two-year old baby with albinism in the wee hours of Friday.
Confirming the development to YFM, Apam President, Ian Simbota said the unknown suspects allegedly kidnapped the baby while its mother was asleep.
“According to the mother, the baby was kidnapped at around 1 am when she was asleep,” he said.
Simbota has since blamed government for its lack of political will to deal with the attacks against persons with albinism in the country.
He said among others government through office of Director of Public Protection (Dpp) has failed to identify markets and inject funds for implementation of the action plan.
Meanwhile, government has not yet had an audience with Apam despite being given a 30-day ultimatum by the Association.
