A call has gone out to district and city councils to ensure that covid-19 preventive measures are enforced during the Easter holidays.
The Ministry of local government’s Director of Chiefs Administration, Charles Makanga, has made the call through a statement made available to YFM.
Makanga said councils should keep in mind that the public health corona virus and corona virus disease prevention, containment and management regulations of 2020 are still in force and should be used during the Easter season.
He also reminded the local authorities that while strictly observe the regulations; gatherings of more than 50 persons are banned.
As such he has warned all councils to adhere to this by among other things not giving permit to such gatherings and festivities.
Although the Easter celebrations are happening at a time the country is recording a decrease in positive covid-19 cases, health authorities have also urged the public to continue adhering to the covid-19 preventive measures.
