Police on Tuesday arrested two men for allegedly inciting violence in Dwangwa in Nkhotakota district.
Central East Police Region public relations officer Harry Namwaza identified the two as Gift Lapozo, aged 40 and Stain Chilezi, aged 48 who are allegedly to have committed the offence on the night of 23 March 2021.
He said the two incited some people at Dwangwa to gang up against police officers who were on duty enforcing Covid-19 regulations in the area.
“The two were arrested last night after police raided their houses on an allegation that, on the night of March 23, 2021 they incited some people at Dwanga to gang up against police officers who were on duty enforcing Covid 19 regulations. The violence resulted into the damaging and looting of Chipiku shop at Dwangwa,” he said.
The two, will appear in court soon.
Gift Lapozo hails from Lauji 1 village, Traditional Authority Katunga in Chikwawa district while Stain Chilezi comes from Mziwale village, Traditional Authority Kanyenda in Nkhotakota district.
