Police have arrested 12 more people in connection to the abuse of K6.2 billion Covid-19 funds.
Malawi Police Service Spokesperson Superintendent James Kadadzera, the new arrests brings the total number of those arrested to 31.
Kadadzera said more people may be arrested following the findings of an investigative audit into the expenditure of K6.2 billion Covid-19 funds.
The arrests follow an audit conducted by the national audit office which implicated people from both the public and private sector.
Some of the notable people that have been arrested include administration officer in the office of President and cabinet; Prince Mtelela, commissioner, department of immigration and citizenship services Pudenciana makalamba and former director of information Mzati Mkolokosa.
Among other charges the suspects will be charged with theft by public servant.
