The State House says it has launched an investigation into the leakage of memos from the Office of the Attorney General.
Presidential press secretary, Brian Banda, confirmed this during the State House weekly briefing following a series of leaked legal opinions from the Attorney General’s office to the general public.
“This issue is a great concern to the president, however he is still investigating the matter to find the root cause of the leakage,” said Banda.
He added; “At this point we cannot point or trace anyone being responsible for this leakage of professional documents.”
Banda said President Chakwera sees the leakage of these memos as a form of corruption and has vowed to go to any length to deal with the issue once and for all.
“Anyone who will be found responsible for this will be brought to book and the law will take its course,” he said.
Recently, social media was awash with documents from the Attorney General Chikosa Silungwe directed to other government offices and departments, the most recent one addressed to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) regarding the firing of its two commissioners.
