Women and girls with disabilities have alleged that the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) is denying them access to loans.

This was revealed during consultation meetings on ending violence against women and girls with disabilities which highlighted economic empowerment as one way of dealing with violence against the group.

Speaking after the meeting, national coordinator for Malawi Human Rights for Women and Girls with Disabilities Stella Nkhonya Chisangwala described this as unfortunate-saying the development can affect economic independence.

NEEF spokesperson Wyton Kapasule asked for more time before commenting on the matter.
