High Court Judge Chifundo Kachale has released on bail former Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Aubrey Sumbuleta.
One of his lawyers Gift Katundu has confirmed the development to YFM.
According to Katundu, Sumbuleta has been given bail on conditions that he pays K500,000 cash bond, produce two sureties each bonded at K250,000, surrender title documents for his Mpingwe plot.
Sumbuleta has also been ordered to report at Limbe Police Station every Monday until the conclusion of the case, surrender travel documents and to notify the police when travelling outside Blantyre except when appearing before the court in Lilongwe.
The court is yet to set the date for the commencement of trial.
Sumbuleta was arrested on April 17, 2021 on six counts bordering on abuse of office and sexual harassment of female employees at the state-owned broadcaster.
