Milk Producers Association of Malawi has appealed to milk processors to consider value addition as milk production levels increases in the country.
The call comes as the country has joined the global community in commemorating World Milk Day which falls on June 1.
National director for the association- Herbert Chagona said last year the country produced over 40 million liters and expects to increase this year hence the need for processors to diversify value addition as milk has low shelf life.
The association’s Chagona also urged Malawians especially parents and guardians especially those from rural areas to ensure that children are having adequate milk for growth.
This year’s World Milk Day is being commemorated under the theme ‘sustainability in the dairy sector with messages of nutrition’.
