Police in Zomba have arrested six suspected armed robbers in connection to attacks on lodges and rest houses.
Zomba city recorded three cases of robbery with violence targeting lodges and rest houses in the last two months.
In a statement Sunday, Eastern Region Police Public Relations Officer Joseph Sauka identified the suspects as John Adams, Joseph Jekapu, Davie Kazembe, Joe ‘Budah’ Dzuwa, Henderson Chikalimba and Hassan Kalima.
Sauka also dispelled fears of security lapse in the city.
“Police is deep with intelligence collection to proactively deal with any criminality within the City of Zomba.
“Uniformed police officers in the City continue to patrol all hot spots to increase visibility and reduce the fear of crime among residents,” Sauka said in a statement.
