A health rights activist George Jobe has encouraged people to get the second jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine which is being administered across the country in order to get full protection.
Jobe told Yoneco FM online that side effects are normal whenever one has been vaccinated as such people should not shun the second dose for fear of getting side effects.
“It is important that people get the second jab so that they can get full cover there is a reason why developers of the vaccine suggested that the vaccine be taken in two shots,” he said.
In the meantime Zomba district health office says it is optimistic that more people in the district will get the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine as day’s progress.
Spokesperson for Zomba District Health Office (DHO) Arnold Mndalira said their office has taken an initiative to remind those that received the first dose to come forward.
“The exercise has started well and we are calling on people who got the first jab and 12 weeks have elapsed since that happened to ensure they finish the second jab,” he said.
Mndalira also mentioned that the first dose is available for those who did not receive it.
