The Department of National Parks and Wildlife says it will take time for the tourism industry to pick up following the Covid-19 pandemic.Â
The Department’s Director Brighton Kumchedwa said this is because currently parks and wildlife reserves are heavily relying on domestic tourism due to restrictions caused by Covid-19.
“At the moment we are relying on domestic tourism,” said Kumchedwa.
Additionally, Kumchedwa conceded that the country is still lagging behind on domestic tourism.
He said that there has been no improvement in people coming to the game reserves.
Despite this being the case, Kumchedwa expressed optimism that things will improve.
