The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) will on 12 June receive nomination papers from candidates from Chikwembere and Lalanje Wards in the run up to the 29 June By elections.
Speaking to YONECO FM online, director of media and public relations for MEC Sangwani Mwafulirwa said on 11 June aspiring candidates from the two wards presented their nomination papers for purposes of pre-inspection.
“We called the candidates from the two wards to bring their nomination papers so that we can check if they meet all the requirements to contest in this election, this process gives candidates ample time to correct errors,” Mwafulirwa said.
Mwafulirwa also mentioned that for Nkhata-Bay central constituency there is no nomination of candidates as those who competed in the 2019 election will be same competing this time around and therefore all candidates have been advised to continue with their campaign activities.
