Organizers of the Sand Music Festival have confirmed that the event will be held at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi from October 1-3.
Coordinator for the event Mkhwachi Peter Mhango said they have moved back the dates to counter the bad weather experienced during the last festival.
“We had announced our dates a couple of weeks back and you have noticed that we have changed our dates from end of October to early of October,” he said.
“The change has been necessitated by the bad experience in terms of harsh weather in our previous events”.
We have also moved from Salima to Mangochi, we thought it was important to communicate to our fans.
“The changing of the venue has come as our partner sunbird is constructing another hotel at Sunbird Livingstonia on our usual place where we used to hold the even,” Mhango said.
Mhango said they will announce the lineup of the artists to perform at the event in due course.
Master KG the Jerusalem star from South Africa and Diamond Platinumz from Tanzania were some of the musicians who performed at last year`s festival at Livingstonia beach in Salima along with other Malawian artists like Faith Mussa, Lucius Banda and Skeffa Chimoto.
