Renowned social commentator Lucky Mbewe has asked the newly appointed heads of mission to various countries to be professional as they will be executing their duties.
Mbewe said the diplomats need to avoid what he termed diplomatic embarrassment at all cost.
“They should not put their priorities upside down,” he said.
This follows the expulsion of several Malawian diplomats in South Africa, who were declared persona non-grata after investigations revealed they flouted diplomatic privileges.
And on his part, Boniface Chibwana who is the national coordinator for Catholic Commission on Justice and Peace said if the country is to develop and benefit from its diplomatic relations, it solely depends on ambassadors’ behavior hence the need for the diplomats to act professionally.
“They need to be professional whilst carrying the country’s flag,” he added.
