Newly elected president of Film Association of Malawi (FAMA) Gift Sukali says there is need for Malawians to embrace the culture of movie production to promote film making industry.

Sukali, also known as Sukez in the film industry, was elected to the position on June 19, 2021.

Sukez directed Fatsani tale of survival a movie which sold out at its premier in April.

He said It is very satisfying that now Malawians are using movies as a tool for social change, and that he will try his level best in using his creative ideas to make sure that the film industry in Malawi is moving forward.

“This is time for all film makers to come together and put efforts together in uplifting our film industry,” Sukez said.

He said during his term he will make sure that there is platform for showcasing movies.

“In my term as a President i want to make sure our films are of good quality and are internationally recognized.

“This is the time to have strategic film workshops and trainings, have platforms to showcase our films and also welfare of filmmakers is well looked into,” Sukez said.
