Tobacco sales witnessed a slight drop in sales volume during the twelfth week of sales due to low deliveries on the market.
According to a market commentary from AHL Tobacco Sales Limited the drop in volume traded was by 16.9 percent as only 7.4 million kilograms of tobacco were traded in week twelve compared to 8.9 million kilograms in week 11.
Despite the drop in tobacco sales volume in week 12 this year the crop has managed to generate K124.1 billion from 94.4 million kilograms of all types of tobacco that have been sold this is compared to K94.8 billion realized during the same period last year.
Meanwhile the 2021 average selling price of all tobacco types stood at 1 dollar 64 cents per kilogram as of week 12, this represents a gain of 8.6 percent compared to the average price of 1 dollar 51 cents registered during the same period last year.
