Economist Betchani Tchereni has described the resumption of the AstraZeneca vaccine as a ray of hope for Malawians saying it will assist in normalizing business activities.
Tchereni told YONECO FM online that the vaccine is important because it is a step towards achieving herd immunity which has made western countries open up their business activities.
“We need a herd immunity of about 20 to 40% of the population being vaccinated with that then some of the businesses can be done freely of course not forsaking the other Covid-19 measures but at least businesses will be operating the Malawi way”.
The recent surge in Covid-19 cases has greatly affected business activities because of restrictions on physical contact.
