Primary school teachers under IPTE 14 will hold demonstrations on Tuesday in Lilongwe as one way of forcing government to recruit them.
According to IPTE 14 spokesperson, Rodney Sinyenga, government’s silence on their recruitment and the employment of teachers under IPTE 13 only on contract as auxiliary teachers, has forced them to hold the demonstrations.
“The government has to explain why they have only considered giving contracts to IPTE 13 teachers without including us,” he said.
Sinyenga said they petitioned Ministry of Education on August 17, 2021 on their grievances but the ministry is yet to respond.
Ministry of Education spokesperson, Chikondi Chimala, said the ministry is working on how best they can respond to the teachers’ demands.
