The Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) has issued a stern warning to the general stores and supermarkets that are importing medicines without authorization.
The warning has been issued through a statement signed by its Acting Director General, Charles Chimenya.
According to the statement, there are certain conditions that importers of medicine are supposed to meet in order to import medicines.
Reads part of the statement: “Section 58 of the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority act number 9 of 2019 states that nperson is allowed to import medicines without an import permit.
“Section 96 of the same Act stipulates that the importation of medicines is only done after the importer is lawfully conducting a pharmacy business as per the authorities’ guidelines.
