Government has disclosed that it will start including names of officers failing to comply with financial regulations and procedures in Auditor General’s report.
A statement signed by secretary to the President and Cabinet, Zanga-Zanga chikhosi, said the development aims at enforcing implementation of measures to promoting transparency and accountability of public resources.
Reads part of the statement: “Government has reached the decision after noting that there is recurrence of audit queries across ministries, departments and agencies due to laxity in enforcement of regulations.”
It further reminded civil servants that section 39 of Malawi Public Service Commission Regulations is still applicable and it will be applied to everyone who defies the order.
Meanwhile the Auditor General has been directed to execute the changes in the Audit report with immediate effect and always comply with the Public Audit Act (No.6 of 2003), section 16(2).
