Voter registration and verification has started on Monday in readiness for the by elections slated for October 26,2021.

Director of Media and Public Relations at Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec), Sangwani Mwafulira, told YFM that the exercise has started on a good note at all centres and all materials required for the exercise are available.

Mwafulirwa encouraged all eligible voters to visit their respective centres so that they can register and verify their names.

“Looking at new registrants this we should not except to be as high as is always the case during general elections because now we are not doing fresh registration a higher percentage are already registered voters,” he said.

The by elections will take place in Mzimba North East, Nkhotakota East, Dedza Central East and Balaka South constituencies and Chimwalire Ward.
