Tobacco Commission (TC) has urged tobacco growers in the country to get licensed so that they are considered in this year’s tobacco season.
This comes as the body is expected to close the period of registering of tobacco growers which was extended to end October.
Speaking to YONECO FM Online, TC spokesperson Terephorus Chigwenembe, said currently all of its branches across the country are receiving license applications from tobacco farmers.
“We have extended the period of issuing licenses to tobacco growers for this growing season due to demand in our offices up to 29 October this year. We therefore urge all farmers with interest to get the services from all our offices across the country before time ends,” said Chigwenembe.
He therefore revealed that the commission is to announce the estimated tobacco that the country is supposed to grow soon after finalizing receiving the applications from tobacco growers.
