A political commentator has described the four week Presidential Delivery Lab which has been launched on 18 October as a duplication already existing institutions that are responsible for promoting government’s development agenda.
The commentator Victor Chipofya questioned why an independent structure has been established because in his view, this is costly for the country.
“What i would want to know is why government has failed to deliver its campaign promises so far, is it because there was no such an initiative or there was no will power,” said Chipofya.
He also said Malawians will be watching closely to ensure delivery of the promises which the government made.
“We expect nothing less than what they are supposed to be delivering,” said Chipofya.
While launching the Presidential delivery lab, Dr Lazarus Chakwera called on controlling officers, ministerial departments and agencies to join forces if they are to effectively deliver.
Chakwera said the lab is a place for action and he expects six things to happen there which are, Accountability, Collaboration, Troubleshooting, Innovation, Opportunity and Necessity.
The lab has been launched amid growing concerns on the failure of government to deliver on its campaign promises one of which is the creation of 1 million jobs in its first year.
