Leader of the House Richard Chimwendo Banda has described first week of the deliberative assembly as fruitful.
Speaking to Yoneco FM after adjournment of Friday’s proceedings, Chimwendo Banda said despite that the House registered some bottlenecks, the deliberations were constructive.
He said: “Largely it has been a great week, impressed with the attendance and debate, but another thing very important is amendment of Standing Order 13.
“This has seen the House allowing members to bring matters of urgent importance an hour before adjournment on each and every passing day.”
Chimwendo Banda said the debate saw a contribution of both government and private members taking a leading role.
“In the week we have had great business we had ministerial statements, private members’ business and general questions to Ministers for oral replies.
“We saw Members bringing in very important motions and largely it has been a great week,” said Chimwendo Banda.
Deliberations in the House are expected to resume on Monday afternoon.
