Government has admitted that Malawians are sailing through serious economic challenges due to rising cost of living.
Addressing a news conference in Lilongwe, government spokesperson Gospel Kazako said authorities are aware that most Malawians are facing economic problems due to a number of challenges rocking the country.
Kazako said authorities are doing whatever they can to address and fix the economy which he said it is still on recovery.
Kazako said: “Government is fully aware of what is happening and what our people are facing, we are able to understand and we know that they trusted us with the responsibility, we do understand them.”
The government spokesperson has since pleaded with Malawians to give the Tonse administration chance to fix the economy.
“We also know the tough and sad situation that Malawians are passing through, and we are doing all we can to make sure that doesn’t become a permanent problem.
“We are saying this is not our own making, however, much as we are responsible for making sure that we come with solutions, this is a global challenge.”
Malawians have recently witnessed a hike in prices of fuel, cooking oil and water leaving the majority in panic.
