Police in Kasungu have launched a manhunt for a woman who has allegedly killed her own day old baby before dumping the body in Lisandwa River in Kasungu.

According to Kasungu police publicist, Sub Inspector Joseph Kachikho, the incident occurred on November 17, 2021 at Chikhala Village within the district.

The suspect who has been identified as Florence and her full particulars are yet to be established, is a sex worker at Lisandwa 3 trading centre.

Some people saw the body of a baby girl floating in Lisandwa river and then the matter was reported to Police.

After receiving the report Police rushed to the scene and observed that the body had deep wounds in the head and buttocks.

After conducting postmortem, it was revealed that death was due to severe loss of blood secondary to stab wounds.

Meanwhile police in the district have urged anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to report to any nearest police station.
