Fire gutted and damaged a huge part of Leopard Matches Limited factory in Blantyre on Monday morning.
Two powerful explosions were held at the scene of incident.
Blantyre Police Publicist, Peter Mchiza, said the cause of fire remains unknown and they have instituted an investigation to establish the cause.
According to Blantyre Police Publicist, Peter Mchiza, four people have been injured and are currently admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
Meanwhile some eye witnesses have accused the Blantyre City Council’s fire department for taking time to intervene.
Sales and Marketing Manager at a fuel selling company, Petroda Malawi Limited, Japhet Nkhata, said the fire department’s intervention leaves a lot to be desired.
He said failure by the fire department to act swiftly, paused danger to other companies near the scene of the incident including Petroda which keeps highly flammable products.
In October 2019, there was another fire incident at the factory.
