The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has released the 2021 Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) and Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education Examination (PSLCE) results.
Announcing the results at a joint media conference in Lilongwe, MANEB Executive Director Professor Dorothy Nampota said out of the 129, 928 students who sat for the JCE examination, 98, 753 have passed representing 76.01 percent pass rate.
Whilst for the 2021 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education examination results, Professor Nampota said 270, 576 students who sat for the examination 226, 809 have passed representing 83.83 percent pass rate.
Professor Nampota added that capacity building for markers and monitoring team were beefed up with required resources and allowances were given on time to ensure motivation of the personnel involved.
She said: “Law enforcement agencies Malawi Defence Force (MDF) and Malawi Police Service (MPS) played a crucial role in ensuring leakage free examinations.
There were pockets of cheating, in some cases teachers assisted in cheating, we hope the law will take its course when these people appear before court.”
In a separate interview, minister of education Agnes Nyalonje has commended all stakeholders who took part in administering saying that no serious challenges were registered during this year`s examination.
Nyalonje said: “We managed to deliver two set of national examinations MSCE 2021 and JCE 2021 without any incident of leaking exam, giving our history this far that is a major achievement.”
PSLCE pass rate is the highest record in the past five years.
