One of the country’s youth led organization, Her Liberty, has emphasized on the need for youth groups to be empowered financially to ensure their economic stability.
This has been said on Friday when the organization conducted training for the youth groups from Mbwana village, Tradition Authority Malemia in Zomba district under the organization’s campaign called “it starts with women”.
Speaking to Yoneco online, Her Liberty programs manager, Ellena Mwasinga, said they organized the training after noting a gap in government policies on financial issues towards the youth.
“We have seen that more youth are unaware of the government’s commitment towards empowering the youths in the country in terms of economic justice and rights which can help youths to get economically empowered in issues of village servings and loans,” said Mwasinga.
And on his part youth mobilizer for Zomba youth office, Enock Chabwera, said his office is also providing trainings on gender based violence to youths as a way of helping them participate in developmental activities.
Speaking in a separate interview, traditional authority Mbwana welcomes the gesture saying the training will among other ways reduce issues of drug and substance abuse among youths and gender based violence rampant in his area.
Her Liberty is conducting an advocacy campaign called “it starts with women” across the country.
