Government has recruited 2,200 primary school teachers who were under the Initial Primary Teachers Education (IPTE 13) cohort who attended recruitment interviews.
In a press statement signed by Principal Secretary for Education, Chikondano Mussa and Principal Secretary for Local Government, James Chiusiwa, government says names of the teachers have been sent to councils for the teachers to start teaching on January 4, 2022.
According to the statement, the recruitment forms part of efforts by Government to expand access, improve quality and motivate teachers for better delivery of education services in the country.
Mussa and Chiusiwa said government is undertaking processes to recruit 2185 secondary school teachers who will be in schools by February this year.
