Four family members are in police custody in Lilongwe on suspicion that they had a hand in the murder of a 32 year old man Gilbert Mumba.
The alleged incident took place at Kanjawala village, Traditional Authority (T/A) M’bwatalika.
Speaking to YFM online, Lilongwe police publicist, Hastings Chigalu, identified the suspects as an ex-wife to the deceased, Malesi Nyamulani (22), Linda Nyamulani (44), Weruzani Nyamulani (30) and Daneil Nyamulani (25), all from Kanjawala village.
According to Chigalu, Malesi and the deceased divorced sometime back and the wife got married to another man.
This did not go well with Mumba who went to confront his fellow man.
The argument forced the wife to shout for help attracting a mob which assaulted Mumba leaving him with serious injuries.
Mumba was later pronounced dead upon arrival at Kamuzu Central Hospital.
Mumba hailed from chiuza village T/A Malili in Lilongwe district.
The four suspects will appear before court after investigations by police are concluded to face murder charges which contravenes section 209 of the Penal Code.
