The Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) has announced that it will shut down Nkula B power station to carry out intake Trash Screen Inspection and retrieval of stuck trash raking machine.
In a statement, EGENCO has disclosed that due to this exercise from Monday January 31, 2022 to February 1, 2022 there will be load shedding making 100 megawatts produced form the station, unavailable.
The statement indicates that there is excessive trash that is still coming to Nkula B intakes and as a result, one of its Trash Raking Machine is stuck under water.
According to EGENCO, there is need to retrieve the trash raking machine to ensure adequate protection of the machines.
EGENCO said it will carry out the exercise during the night in order to minimize the impact of the outage.
Currently, there is limited amount of power that is being generated because of the disaster that occurred at Kapichira Power Station which is presently not in service.
Nonetheless, electricity is being generated at Nkula A and Tedzani Power Stations and diesel generators are supplementing the two power stations.
