The Association of Early Childhood Development in Malawi (AECDM) has implored on government to put up temporary bridges in Chikwawa and Nsanje so that they can reach out to children with early childhood education.
Executive director for the AECDM, Clement Silungwe said tropical cyclone ANA which hit Malawi two weeks ago has impacted on early childhood education in the lower shire districts of Nsanje and Chikwawa.
Silungwe indicated that this is a blow to them since they are failing to implement their activities.
“We were hoping that government would have mounted stand by bridges so as to ease mobility to the areas that have been hit by floods but the impact of the road damage is just too much rendering them impassable,” Silungwe said.
Additionally, Silungwe said, they had plans to introduce a new project in the second week of February but the road issues have set them back.
