Zomba-based Red Lions Football Club has re-engaged the services of midfielder Paul Kansungwi from Nyasa Big Bullets FC.
Kansungwi once featured for the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) side for the better part of the first round of the 2021 football season before joining the Nyasa Big Bullets. However, the player rarely featured for Bullets until recently when he parted ways with the team.
Red Lions general secretary Francis Chalulu told YFM Online that all procedures to have the player back at the Lions den have been completed.
“I can confirm that we have taken on board Paul Kansungwi. He is a player we feel can help us compete for honours this season. We know his capability because he once played for us last season,” he said.
The development is coming at a time teams are tuning up for the 2022 TNM Super League season which was initially slated for 26 February. Other players on Lions radar are Duncan Mwale and Jones Kanyumba from Mighty Tigers FC and Patrick Rudi from Ekwendeni Hammers.
Meanwhile, Red Lions have lined up a friendly match this Saturday 19 February against new entrants Sable Farming FC at Balaka Stadium.
