Nine notorious criminals have been arrested following a spate of breakings targeting Catholic institutions.
The institutions include Limbe Cathedral, Nantipwili Parish at Bvumbwe, Things Parish in Thyolo, Bishop’s house in Chikwawa Diocese, and to homes and business premises of some prominent individuals, Malawi Police Service spokesperson James Kadadzera confirmed in a statement.
Kadadzera identified the suspects as Blessings Patrick Kapusa, 41, Ibrahim Samuel Mbewe, 44, and seven others.
Police have also recovered some of the stolen property which include cellphones and cash.
“Malawi Police Service is assuring Malawians that detectives are closing in on the remaining suspects and that more stolen property will also be recovered,” Kadadzera said.
