National Oil Company of Malawi (Nocma), the country’s leading importer of petroleum products, has been awarded a 3-star certification of Occupational Health and Safety.
This follows a successful audit carried out at the Nocma’s strategic Fuel Reserves depots in Matindi; Kanengo in Lilongwe and Sonda in Mzuzu carried in early February, 2022.
The development has since emerged after Nocma engaged (NOSA), a South African Based company which implements a 5-star certification system based on international standards.
Speaking in an interview with YFM, Chisomo Mwamadi, Public Relations Officer for Nocma, expressed his satisfaction on the development.
Mwamadi said the company’s deposits are becoming an increasingly safer place to work at, and conduct business despite being an environment that often involves working with fuels, heavy equipment, hazardous materials and high pressure equipment among others.
He said: “Nocma depots continue to be characterized by a declining rate of accidents, zero-rate of occupational related illnesses; increased fire safety and preparedness.”
“This means that our stakeholders, customers, and business partners can trust in our processes and be guaranteed safe and environmentally friendly business transactions with Nocma.”
Nocma is a company that is committed to work towards continuous improvements in the area of occupational health and safety standards in all its operations for the safety and benefit of its employees; business partners; and communities around its strategic fuel Reserves.
