There are fears that Chikwawa will register malnutrition cases in the long term if flood survivors continue to eat inadequately.
Speaking to Yoneco FM online, health promotion officer for Chikwawa District Health Office Setti Piriminta said people are relying on humanitarian aid which is coming in portions since they lost food to the floods.
“If the current situation continues then we’ll definitely register cases of malnutrition,” Piriminta said.
Piriminta said presently, the are faced with the burden of malaria and other communicable diseases due to overcrowding in camps.
