Police in Kasungu have arrested a 21-year-old man, Peter Sambani for abducting and defiling a 14-year-old girl.

According to Kasungu Police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho, the arrest took place on February 22, 2022 at Juma area where the suspect is renting a house.

Reports are indicating that, on February 17 the girl went to his father’s house and on her way back she met Sambani who took her to his house where he had been defiling her for five days.

“Police and CID officers got a tip on the issue and went to Sambani’s place and rescued the girl and arrested Sambani,” Kachikho said.

A report from Kasungu district hospital has shown that the girl was indeed defiled.

Sambani will appear before court to answer charges of defilement, he hails from Kamphinda Village, Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza.
